Glad to hear it. The 2010 season is looking pretty good for leagues and pro tournaments right now as well.

Interesting note about pool tables going bad. I just talked to a guy in Canada who can't get replacement parts for his table from the original manufacturer. He is going to replace all of them because of that issue.

My opinion is that pool popularity is neither increasing or decreasing. There will always be tables and people to play on them in bars, pool rooms and home rooms. Even with the state of the economy, many will find a way to play. What I see is sale...

I am planning to come to Vegas to the Expo. You had mentioned letting you know when the time approached.

Thanks,
Marcus

I looked at the building today. It will not do at all. However, there is a surplus of commercial property around the southeast Houston area. I have found several ideal properties for reasonable rates. I have also become acquainted with Jeremy Jones and Charlie Bryant. They are interested in a place geared for instruction. If I could get the financial support I think I could get these guys on board.

I am going to see the building this weekend, but from further descriptions it may not be big enough. When it comes to investors I have a large network of friends, but most of them are in education which means no surplus income for any type of venture. The rest of my friends are medical professionals who are just finishing med school and are up to their eyeballs in student loans. I would be willing to start a room full time but it would be a very unorthodox, unprecedented type of model. I do not want to run a bar. I want to have food, but not a kitchen and I want to make it exclusive to high school students and adult members. I think overhead can be kept low and the knucklehead factor eliminated. I think this model could do well, even better than traditional rooms. It has to be kid/family centered. I have the ability to work on the equipment myself. I have friends that can do electrical, AC, and carpentry. My biggest expense is my salary for at least two years. Equipment for start up would be bought used. I am very capable of managing something on a shoe string.

Hey Ivan,
There is a chance that I can open a room that can be dedicated to the high school program I have been wanting to start. I am going to visit the property tomorrow. I would like to see if there is anyone in the billiards industry that can help if this building is suitable.

Hi Ivan,
Thanks for reminding me about the photo. I guess I was waiting for the perfect one and you know how us girls are, we're always picky about our photos! I'll get one up there. Hope you are doing well.

Hi Ivan, Thanks for writing back. Yes, it is true, I do speak several languages, partly because of family background and college classes, and mostly because of traveling to the countries and learning it there, such as Sweden, where I have visited 26 times. I used to keep a Swedish wordbook (dictionary) on hand to go with the Swedish billiard magazine so I would know what was going on there. I also have a Swedish bible, with Swedish in one column and English in an adjacent column, great way to learn. Other more fluent languages include German and Italian, though I am getting a bit rusty on them, and some Spanish, some Japanese, some Russian, and a smidge of Hungarian and French. It appears that in a few months, I will be speaking Wisconsin, with an appearance in January in Southern Wis., would love to have you and staff on hand. Thanks for asking about languages, I wish I could use them more.

You need to support your local pool hall

Hi everyone,

With all of the economic hard times that are going on, it seems that it is important that people get out and play more pool. It sounds simple, but you go to many good quality pool halls and they are dead. Why is that? Did everyone go and get a Wii for themselves and they stay at home playing Wii bowling while randomly checking their email for new notices about how bad their stocks are doing? I mean really! The latest reports show casual participation in billiards at what could be a… Continue
