So I got my advance copy of the San Diego Classic from the lovely ladies at the
WPBA and there's some fun new features aside from
PoolDawg's Road to the Finals, which of course is cooler than the other side of a pillow on a hot summer day (yes, self promotion is not beneath me). Did I mention what an absolute doll Anne Craig is by the way?
I included a screenshot of the new goodies from the Fisher/Corr match which shows the new bugs on the scoreboard. We've got the rack tracker, a bug that shows the ball the shooter is currently and one that shows the balls that each player has pocketed with the balls on the break separated out.
Now I know that the hardcore viewer will likely look at these new bugs and shrug, as they don't really add a whole lot to the game, but in terms of the casual viewer, this could be very useful. Let's face it, with the onslaught of data that is now available thanks to that whole "internet" thing, why not start using some of that information. You never know what's going to click with viewers. All it took for poker to get big was a peek cam and displaying some odds.
What else should they be doing to make pool more viewer friendly? I think we're going to see some sort of break-speed bug for the
GenerationPool.com 9 Ball Championships, which should be interesting as well.
